Charm and Sashing Quilting

I call this quilt "Sashing with Charm". This quilt was my first experience in teaching myself how to incorporate sashing with charm pack squares. I think I discovered the hardest way to do sashing. I found along the way a much easier technique than using full length strips of fabric. It was quite tricky to get every corner to match up doing it the way my head imagined it.

But that is the magic and wonder of quilting. There is more than one way to piece a quilt. I designed this quilt myself with no pattern. I'm sure there are many quilt patterns out there that look like this quilt but I was still learning and I created this on my own brain power and creative juices without using a pattern or picture. This quilt was for my sister, Chelsea's first baby Kaycee.

Dutch Windmill Quilt - Quilt in a Day Pattern

This quilt I learnt to make through a class at Sun Valley Quilt Shop in Sun City, Arizona. In the class we had to purchase the book and the fabric. The book was called Dutch Windmill and the fabric line I chose was my favorite, Thimbleberries. I love the rich, deep, winter colors. It reminded me of the forest and the fall season.

This quilt was also entered into the Arizona State Fair and won a ribbon.

Irish Chain Quilt - Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day

Irish Chain Quilt in A Day by Eleanor Burns. My first introduction to Eleanor Burns' quilting techniques. I love this book and this pattern. Being a very beginner quilter it was perfect for me and the instructions were easy to follow. It turned out beautifully.

This quilt was made for as a family Christmas gift. My husband, Jeremy's family drew names for Christmas and we drew his Brother, Emerson and his wife Wendy's family. I decided a quilt would be a perfect gift that would last for years to come.

I found out Wendy's favorite colors and put this Irish Chain Quilt together.

Warrior Spirit Quilt

This quilt was my next adventure in coming up with my quilt design. This quilt is called "Warrior Spirit" The inspiration was from my friend, Jeffrey Shoop and his Karate classes. He was taught many valuable principles that I wanted to put into the quilt. Thank you Jefe for the inspiration!!
